i parked my van  for 24 hrs. ,tried to crank it, it will not start, engine turns over, battery
good, but i noticed the fuel gauge is not working when i try to crank, what could be my
problem??

Knock on the gas tank from underneath. Some little rat may of taken your gas from the tank. Check the fuse to the fuel pump. If you can see if you have gas at the injectors and or spark at the plugs.

we have checked all of the above, sprayed starter in carb., it tries to start, but doesn't . fuses and relay are good, If we need a new fuel pump, can we install one that's not in the gas tank, and where should we mount it.

there are 2 wires going to thermostat housing ,, they are ground wires for the fuel pump, if the fuel gauge is showing empty those wires are the problem ,, found out after installing ign. and pump.. good luck ,, hope this helps

I have a 2001 Chevy astro van, when you start the van the fuel gauge does not read but, after driving and hit some bumps the gauge will read but only for a while. what causes that to happen and what do I need to fix it.
