go with the factory size...less hassle and reduced danger~
If they rub on the inside - get spacers. If they rub on the outside, roll the fender lip or get wheels with a different offset.
Thanks, I think its rubbing in the back. Inside does some so yes spacers. When you say Factory size are you saying go back to my stock tires? cause i got bigger tires to make it look better and eventually for OFFROADING.
OK, i have a 1990 4runner with the goodyear wrangler mt/r 33x12.5x15 on factory rims and i dont have any rubbing problems in the rear at all even when jumping it and bottoming out the suspension. However i did have to do lots of trimming on the front. Did you know 4runners have free lift kits in the front? what am i talking about? 4runners have adjustable torsion bar suspension in the front until 1996. BP blaster will be your friend there. The torsion bar is the bar that runs from rear side of the upper control arm to a bracket under the front seats. On the end of this bar, there is an eccentric cam, a bolt that pushing against the cam and a bracket. soak the area down with pb blaster every couple days for a few weeks before trying to adjust the bars as they are often very stuck. The bolt you adjust faces straight down and very easy to reach, best to use and impact, simply turn the bolt a few times and you will lift or lower the suspension, but not to much as you will max out the suspension on the upside and cause a horrible ride. You can get about 2-3 inches of lift from this trick, i also did this exact same trick to my chevy pickup as they use the torsion bars also, and 6 years later, i havent had a problem with either. Ok, so for the rear, these generation 4runners are known for having very bad saggy springs after a few years, a new set of rear springs are cheap for these, and easy to put in, and factory springs gave my 4runner a 2 inch lift in the back, then i added air shocks to the rear about 2-4 inches more lift depending on how much air i put in them. Now shes a beast.
the bolt in the middle of the pic is the one you want to adjust, i dont remember which way, but after a few turns, the truck will change height
crazy fun!! i love offroading, and of-course it helps to have a father that owns a repair shop and i went to auto tech school and became ase certified. crazy...in some minds....but educated. i had a jeep with 13inch lift and 47 inch tall tires!!! now that was crazy, the floor was literally shoulder high
