I have checked all three bulbs, all seem good. I have replaced the fuse which didnt seem
to be blown, and I also replaced the brakelamp switch on the brake pedal. Still no brake
lights. I also have trailer brake system installed, and it appears to be working correctly.

This is what I usually do. Jam something in between the pedal and the brake so it's ON. Then get one of those twelve volt needle lights. Start poking wires until you find where it loses power. You have a busted wire or a busted ground. I know it sucks because every thing is usually all taped up. If you hook up your trailer, do the brakes work on that?
the lights on the trailer work including brake lights. ?????? am i mistaken or is there a brake relay on this thing. i didnt find anything obviously marked for that
Yes, there is a tail light relay. Rock auto sells them for between $9 and $13 dollars. Good Call! My old rigs never had a tail lamp relay!
any idea where its located???? because again it is not marked well under the hood
They're usually under the dash. Try looking above the kick panel on the drivers side.
Ill give it a shot! thank you for the help!! I post if it works. :-)

the taillight sockets run in together,,,if one goes out..likely the one above or below it will not work. My brakes light wouldn't work..the running light socket was bad, kept the brake light from working. Go figure..
My 1998 4 runner brake light stays on when car is off
