VSC Off/VSC Trac

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2002 Toyota 4Runner and for a couple
weeks both VSC Off and Trac lights came on. What
does this mean? My car will tend to shake when my
car is completely stopped. When I go on the
freeway, my car has a tough time going from 40 to
60/70 mph, also should mention when that happens
that the RPMs have a tough time going over 2000
rpms. Once my car gets going, it seems fine but I
know something is off.

Do you have a check engine light on? You may need a tune up and also have issues with the stability system.

The check engine light is not on. What are the possible problems and costs to fix?

Your information is a bit vague but how long since you had a tuneup? It sounds like you have a major engine miss which could be a lot of things but I would start out with a tuneup. How many miles on the car?

It's been probably since early June, I think, my last tune up was. And I have about 162k miles...

I have the same exact problem with my 07 Tundra!!!! Did you ever solve the issue!? I'm in the same boat unfortunately!

I had this same issue with my 02 4runner. Had it diagnosed and ended up being a misfire in #4 cylinder. I bought a new solenoid and spark plug and ended up being the spark plug. Hope this helps.
