Automatic Cargo Door Latch

Asked by Jeff_1 Aug 29, 2016 at 01:24 PM about the 2004 Toyota 4Runner Sport Edition 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The automatic closing rear cargo door latch on
dad's 2004 won't hold the door shut; it comes open
when he is driving. He told me he made sure
everything is tight (?) Is this a common problem?
How can I help him figure out what the problem is
and how to fix it?

replace the latch with a second hand unit from a junk yard and see if it works, also check the alignment of the exisiting latch also my advise to you is to take your automobile to your local shop and a qualified technician should be able to diagnose the malfunctioning cargo door latch
