could i need a starter relay.Brand new starter ac delco from rock auto failed

like i said car stalled with just a single clicking from the starter a few weeks
ago.Brought a brand new ac delco starter from roc auto.Put it in it still stalled so
my mechanic friend messed with it got it started went a few places it stalled and
single clicked again.Could it be a starter relay?Its a old 95 toyota avalon xl.

One click is usually a low voltage problem, so yes I would replace the relay to start with but you could have wiring issues. If it still does it then run voltage drop tests on the main power and ground pathways.

so theres nothing wrong with my new starter?Can whats going damage my new starter?

Low voltage can and will damage equipment. Now is your new starter damaged will no one knows until you get correct power and grounds to it. But as it is a new starter and not a remanufactured one it should be good. But you never really know cause it is man made and quality control seems nonexistent today.

I caught NAPA on a bad starter they sold me. I took it back to them and told them to ship it back to maker and it was in fact determined defective and I got most money back. I had used the item about 2 to 3 weeks. They didn't tell me just what was wrong, but that's a different story
