how should i fix a pipe leak

Asked by Petey Jan 15, 2024 at 10:32 PM about the 1995 Toyota Avalon 4 Dr XL Sedan

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

ive been developing a growing exhaust leak for some time now.Now its loud
like i have straight pipes.I asked someone to look under my car and see
where its leaking from he said its a gap after the catalytic go tiwards the rear
which i think its called the resonator pipe which for my car is about $100.But
he said i can get it welded or buy the resonator pipe.Which is cheaper and
more convenient?

Try an exhaust shop first. They might be able to do it cheaper.

Straight pipes with a catalytic ? You can buy after market pipe/adapters/clamps at auto zoo crawl under there and jerk ball it together like I did many times with older vehicles where things seemed more accessible . for the time and money I just bring it to a muffler shop , But have at it if you want

If you have a Meineke (muffler shop) in your area try them. I've always had good luck with them. Including custom making exhaust pipes for cars that were older and had no pre bent pipes available. Hope that helps! Jim
