Is it safe for my 28 year old daughter to drive a 1996 Avalon

Asked by toyotamum May 29, 2017 at 01:38 PM about the 1996 Toyota Avalon 4 Dr XL Sedan

Question type: General

I can afford to buy a slightly used car for my daughters (28 and 31) but they
want to keep driving the 1996 Avalon that was their grandfather's.  Is a 1996
Avalon as safe as a newer model?  What's a (well-meaning) mother to do?

1 Answer

If the tires, brakes and suspension and seatbelts are all in good shape, the car is safe. Reliability is another factor to consider. Newer cars are safer but I would not hesitate to trust a 1996 Avalon.
