why does my back brake light stay on when i make a right hand turn

Dear missnst-- This is a hard one to diagnose without seeing your 1997 Avalon in person. The first thing I would check would be for a damaged bulb socket. If that wasn't it I would have to check for problems in the entire circuit and that would require a hands on approach. I always advise that electrical matters are usually best left to the professionals. There are too many ways that a Sunday mechanic can go wrong and make a small problem a big one.
