Ran hot,cut it off quickly now won't start

Asked by Tony Aug 31, 2022 at 09:20 PM about the 2000 Toyota Avalon XL

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Water pump went out,started
streaming, noticed it was reading hot
on gauge, pulled off road and cut it off.
Let it cool down and input water in it.
Now it won't start, cranks good but
sounds like it's not firing. Is there a
safety to prevent it from starting or
something?

Most likely the ignition control module or the ignition coil got fried from the excessive heat. Hope that helps! Jim
