Transmission need replaced?

Auto Trans: When it accelerates at the beginning of
1st gear, it feels like it kicks up. When coming to a
stop it's thumps and feels like it's going to drop out
the car.  Just started today only happens in 1st
gear.

Doesn't sound good. You might check the tranny fluid for quantity and quality. Check the Owner's Manual. It explains how to check fluid level. Smell the fluid...does it smell burnt? What color is it? Is the Tranny full? Get back to us with results.
