Does a cracked coolant reservoir affect heater function? Engine runs ay proper temp but heater/defroster emits very little heat.

No it does not but if it leaking coolant, it can lead to major engine problems. You may need to replace thermostat.... after u replace the cracked reservoir

Try this "Ojd School" touchy feely diagnosis. Coolant level filled to proper level. Start Engine and allow to warm up. Carefully find the Heater Hoses. Look it up if you cannot locate these hoses. Touch...Feel both the inlet and outlet hoses to the Heater Core. The INLET Hose should be Hot Hot. The OUTLET Hose should be Warm to Hot. This test proves there is coolant circulating through the Heater. Also there may be a Heater Control valve in the Inlet Heater Hose that may be stuck closed.
