Coolant reservoir problem

Asked by ibgirl67 Jan 22, 2016 at 01:27 PM about the 1995 Toyota Camry LE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 95 Toy Camry, the coolant reservoir has
melted a small hole on the top and is hot to the
touch. I noticed after driving today that it was smoking and melting. The liquid
in it is dark in color.

I take it that the car is not overheating? You need to do some cooling system maintenance and install a new reservoir. Given that the coolant is dark, I would do a thorough flush of the system, install new hoses and thermostat and then new coolant. Be sure and flush out the heater by turning it on while flushing the engine.
