possibly a bad thermostat or water pump - also verify there is enough fluid in the system

bypass the heater core (cord, according to you)~ is really unacceptable...there are a couple of reasons why...number one, you won't have any defrosters anymore~ number two, you won't have heat anymore thirdly these things are fairly cheap~ Toyotas are fairly easy to strip the glovebox out and change out....some you gotta tear down the entire dash panel....like Volvo, Geo metro and some JEEPS too~ so just get the replacement and do it right...okay~

a #2 screwdriver and a couple of screws and one 10mm bolt on the side~ the glovebox light and put it on the side...couple more screws https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DzwA4XbSjic

fans will come on when the coolant temperature reaches 185 degrees~
