No Power!! 1996 Toyota Camry
My car cut off while driving, my radio was going off
and on, all the lights on the dash broad came on
that's when the car completely shut off. I coast to a
parking spot put into park and tried to start it up
again but no response no nothing so I did a jump
still nothing. I had it towed, the next day I checked
all of the fuses and relays I found 30A & 40A fuses
were blown out, I changed them still nothing. Then
I went to buy a new battery put that in NOTHING so
I went and brought a alternator NOTHING at this
point I really don't know what to do and the only 2
things that works is the HAZARD LIGHTS, AND the
HORN.. NO CRACK NO NOTHING.. WHAT AM I TO
DO AT THIS POINT....
Need to know the Name/Nomenclature of those fuses. suggest you check the cover of the fuse box and get back to us.
The first fuse was the Main No. 1 40A starting system.. The second 2 were 30A multiport fuel injection system/sequential - starting system..
Sounds like you may have a "short" in the wiring harness on or near the engine. We normally employ some sophisticated "short finding equipment" to trouble shoot this problem. About all you can do is replace the blown fuses again....and with the key on ..wiggle and move the wiring harnesses under the hood of the car. Go back and check those fuses. Next.....have some one try to start the car while you wiggle and move again. Watch out for those rotating parts! Get back to us.
Where is the wiring harness
Well...unfortunately I'm not there to help you find the harness. So...it's off to the internet to see if there are any images available.
Had another thought. Some vehicles have a FUSABLE LINK located in the Red Positive battery Cable. Inspect your battery Cables carefully for corrosion and open circuits. You might have to invest in a cheap VOLT/OHM Meter from Wal-Mart to further diagnose this issue. Good Luck and get back to us if you decide to continue troubleshooting this issue your self.

BTW....IF your red Battery Cable has a thinner wire running along side of that red battery cable ....and...attached to it at the Pos. Battery post...that thinner wire IS the Fusible Link. See if you can find the other end and check for an open in the wire.
Here is a pic that should cover your year Camry. The thick bold wire is the main harness. I would also invest in a pin tester. You will need a pin tester to probe each wire for power. I suspect that you may have a short on the ignition side. The main harness should come out of the firewall and be about an inch thick and wrapped in shrink tape. You will need to cut it open and begin testing for power.
I have a 1996 Toyota Camry that was under water about a foot. The vehicle stopped on its own in water. 5 days later after a complete dry out she started right up, and everything works perfect. The only thing that isn't working is the radio, all fuses are good. I have power going to the radio, but nothing comes up on the desplay. It has a anti thief radio in it, any body know what I need to do next to make it work.. thanks in advance...
