Improve car performance

I would like to install an air intake and a
new exhaust but not to familiar with
cars or how to improve their
performance. Any recommendations or
better ideas??

Save your money. Inexpensive power gains in your vehicle will only be minimal.

You might pick up 20 hp and if the fun of doing the mods is worth it to you then go for it. If you want to go fast buy another car, almost all cars will be faster than what you have now.
