how to troubleshoot 97 camry alarm system

First...we open up the Owner's Manual and find out how the System is supposed to work correctly. Then..we Test the System to see what does not function correctly. Then...we look for Toyota Service Bulletins for this Make/model/ Year...and see if there are any SB(Service Bulletins) which explain how to fix the problem. We also install a Scan Tool which may assist in with the correct diagnosis. So.....what exactly is the problem with the "Alarm System"? Did someone try to steal the vehicle? Did the 12v Battery go dead? Are the batteries in the key fobs good? Did you try the Spare Key to activate and De-activate the system? I guess we need is a little bit more Info on this vehicle.
Tried hooking up battery and the alarm went off and now car won’t start now

same thing just happened to me, 1 week after shoulder surgery in the hospital parking lot... Toyota engineers should have been shot for this. there's no reset under seat and no toggle on left kick panel no valet button on steering column either. so right arm in a sling I finally just pulled the signal wire connector to the starter, and used a piece of speaker wire held one end on starter signal post and then put the other right to the battery positive with the key on all the way and it started right up. have to use this trick after everytime I lock the doors, stupid
