would a bad oil sending unit make my camry die

i bought a 1998 toyota camry and it keeps dying

It could. The sending unit could be telling the ECU to shut down the engine because the oil pressure is low and will.destroy it.

Not likely. especially on a 98 camry. how does it die?

After the car dies, how are you restarting it? Do you jump it then drive it until it dies again? Or do you just let it sit for a while then try it again?
