Asked by Motoquero60 Oct 29, 2016 at 01:34 PM about the 1998 Toyota Camry CE V6

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Just installed a brand new pump on my Camry V6 , not getting power to the pump , switched the horn relay to the EFI and didn't , took a vacuum hose from the intake sprayed starting fluid and it does start.
All the connections and cables are attached .
Any info will be appreciated.

"pump"....I assume you refer to the Fuel Pump? The Fuel Pump is most likely controlled by a Relay. I believe this relay is located behind the Glove Box. Might have 6 terminals...5 of which are active. Also...see if this vehicle has a Diagnostic connector under the Hood near the Master Cylinder. Flip the lid open and you should find Terminal Id's. One Terminal is marked Fp....another marked B+ CAREFULLY jump the 2 together with a Fused jumper wire. You just "hot wired" the fuel Pump.......it should run. This test checks the Pump and the wiring from the COP relay to the Pump.. Get back with results.
