Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I had an issue with car overheating. I went to new mechanic who says water
pump is leaking. Here's my q:  A year ago, I had a different mechanic replace
the water pump and timing belt.  This mechanic says I have to replace the belt
again also. Does this sound right?

I would say no , once the parts are exposed the problem should be solved as they are not that old , finding an honest mechanic that does good can be tough , perhaps you should give it a try

You don't "have to" replace it again. It's a recommended as a precautionary measure. Now give me points
