Asked by Celeste Jul 08, 2013 at 03:57 PM about the 1998 Toyota Camry LE

Question type: General

I have a 1998 Camry that came with no remote.  I purchased one but can't find the 'receiver ' in the car.  Would a dealership know where it could be?

If it was dealer installed, yes they would know. If it's after market, it's usually installed to the left of the steering wheel under the dash. Look for a black box..........

Unfortunately most Camry's of that generation weren't equipped with keyless entry. I know that in ones that were they have a red light indicator built into the gauge cluster. From what i understand the alarm system components arent prewired/equipped.
