Toyota Camry won't idle/ turn over

Asked by Jessica Sep 07, 2018 at 09:39 PM about the 1998 Toyota Camry XLE V6

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 98 Toyota Camry that began dying on me. After getting it jumped, I
was told by an auto parts store that I had a bad alternator. After getting my
alternator replaced, my car began to die again. After getting it jumped, I then
replaced my car battery which seemed to do the trick. However,  the next
morning my car would start, but would shut off if I took my foot of the gas. I
tried cleaning the throttle body, but now it won't even turn over. Any advice?

No there is not. Now it will start again when I give it some gas, but is still dying when I let off the gas.

Check your wires and connections on your alternator and the serpentine belt along with all the pulleys for anything that would cause a drag on the alternator turning.
