My 1999 camry is smoking upon start-up after sitting outside for a year. i started it periodically
during the time but not on a regular basis. the smoke is coming from the engine and is a
white/grey color. also the car is idling very rough. any ideas what could be wrong?

Valve seals may have given up the ghost. Those things are relatively easy to change, will cause some edowntime but shouldn't take more than a day if the mechanic is efficient. Could also be ur PCV valve that's gone bad. That usually causes high and or erratic idling too. And it could also be (though highly unlikely if the issue is recent) piston rings. Let us know when u find the issue.

Hey y'all my 1992 camry smokes to I was wondering it sat for about a month but the pl who had it before me ragged it pretty bad could it be possible that one of the probable problems molo is having could be related to mine having the same issues? My camry smoked on start up but continues to while its running as well the hard I push the pedal the more smoke it produces...any ideas?

Hey molo I recently had my 92' camry doin the same exact thing I packed a boatload of money into it only to find out its been my valve seals n piston rings. Idk if it helps but that's what caused it in my camry. Hope it was helpful. If so ur welcome -bird
