Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I love toyota's. i found a camry 2000 CE that i wanna buy. I was told engine cannot start. What might possibly be the problem. There was NO oil in the engine, all other fluids were ok. Its a 4cyl, 2.5L, Auto, 4 DR, a/c, CD & casette. Body looks nice only a few scratches. How much is the used engines. Pls advise.

stay away!! if there is no oil, it has a seized engine. The engine needs to be replaced. this is going to be about 1500 (wrecker engine, installed up ot 4500 dealer installed). unless this car is CHEAP, I would advise to stay away. This is just my personal opinion. but to find a engine, install the engine and all the other stuff (used engine's need all new tune up stuff). As I said it will more than likely cheaper to find a running used car. Best of luck, hope this helps.

3rd that. Engines aren't hard to find but you might as well find a running one as Casper has suggested. It's possible either engine siezed from lack of oil or timing belt went bad and engine smashed itself up, or a blown rod through the block caused loss of oil, etc.
You are going to need a crankshaft And bearings maybe rods also Piston of needed Maybe cut new pistons in machine shop Ck block and head for warpage and cracks . I would redo a junkyard motor Balance shaft is a little tricky to set up But not two bad don't forget to put shims under balanceshaft to measure What size shim you need also get number on crank and numbers off block add together to find out bearing size trust me you'll need a book Get factory book from Toyota there great easy reading and understanding good luck.ive worked with a lot of Toyota I was at a dealer Ship for a long time many years gota love it I do
