2000 Camry engine shuts off when it is running.

There might be an issue in the security system causing the lockout to disengage power to the engine and ignition system.

But why does security system cauzes the engine stop when the car is running 10 minutes after engine started. Yesterday it did 5 to 6 times and now it has become normal. Anyway, if there is no way to diagnoise, I have to drive this car as is. I feel very nervus when I drive this car on freeway. Thanks a lot, John

I fear the immobilizer system is glitchy, it may have had some sort of electric spike in its lifetime causing the electronics to have an intermittent fault. You might ask a dealer about this, or try to find the wiring diagram and see what you can replace in order to get the immobilizer to work properly.

Thank you Lars. Your answer makes sense to me. Monday morning when I drove this car about 15 miles, It acted up, and I stopped on the freeway. It took me about an hour to make it work by disconnect and reconnect battery. My question is why I am able to start the car with a key that is not programmed to immobilizer system. I have been using this key which was cut at Walmat for 5 years. I will check with dealer to see if this car is equipped with immobilizer system. If there is the immobilizer system, I will have them reset and program a key to it. I already ordered a key from ebay. Thanks a lot, John

I went to Toyota dealer. They said there is netheri security system nor immobolizer on this car.

I would bet on ECM for alarm easy to short out But to fix your problem start at the left ft harness Pull apartlug grease it put it back together and then ck Wash and every plug make sure nothing has bin forsed After that I would run a test for shorts.put a test light on between Pos side of cable and post on battery Light schould be on pull fuse wait 13 seconds light schould go out If light stays on short in that circuit trace circut and fix that's your problem Bit I would first go through the harness make sure it done right
