Question type: Maintenance & Repair

173k miles.  Plastic top of radiator cracked.  Replaced radiator, upper and lower hoses, and thermostat.
Temp gauge quickly maxes out after 5 minute drive. Burped system. No warm air blowing after burping system and temp quickly maxes out.  Removed new  thermostat and temp still maxes out. What else could need to be replaced?

Probably the shaft has come off from the impeller inside your water pump.

Either water pump or heater core right beside gas pedal behind dash and carpet. Had the same problem. I replaced both and haven't seen overheating since
