Asked by Jonathan805000000 Jan 20, 2015 at 07:58 AM about the 2000 Toyota Camry LE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So my Camary was running fine for a
couple years then one day when i got on
the freeway it shut down on me. I have a
new battery in it the spark plugs were just
replaced along with the fuel filter.I did a
compression test on it and they were all
normal. I was fine on oil also. Now when i
try to pull it out of my driveway i can pull it
out and then when i put it in drive to pull it
back into the driveway it shuts off. Please
help what can be the cause ???

I would look at the tps. Throttle position sensor or a really dirty throttle body .

Before spending any real money, I would try what NoFords suggested. Buy a can of throttle body cleaner and clean your throttle body and do your IAC also. Here is a video on how to properly dismantle and clean: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WsP2-HKz7vE If no change after cleaning, see if your check engine light is on and get the codes read. Try Autozone, they will usually read the codes for you.

You can also check youre coils and fuel regulator but most likely trottle body might be dirty
