2000 V6 Camry - Speedometer/Odometer blank

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I have a 2000 V6 Camry and earlier this year my speedometer and odometer went blank. It came back the next time driving and went back and forth awhile before it went out completely. Now its never on. Other related issues, at the same time cruise control doesn't work however no issues with transmission what so ever. Hooking up ODB2 scanner I also read 0 MPH while driving. Code says VSS is malfunctioning. Today, because it was cheaper than replacing VSS, I replaced the ceramic resonator but it didn't seem to help. Unless I did something wrong in the resonator replacement, do you think it is likely the VSS?

Most likely the VSS is bad. There might be 2 of them located on the transmission. We us a Digital Volt Meter set to AC volts to test them. Get back to us with updates concerning this issue.
I'm having same issue on Manual 03 Camry. No speedometer, odometer reading is visible, but not recording and no cruise control. Transmission works fine, since it's a manual. Would love to know solution to above question.
Step number one is ususlly Scan Tool Diagnosis for trouble codes. Some auto parts store will scan your computers for free. Make sure you wright down the code numbers AND descriptions and get back to us.

For 2002 Camry, there is no easy way to reach ceramic resonator, there is no screw at the back of the circuit board
