Maintenance and Repairs

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I need to remove 6 bolts from the transmission
shaft of my 2002 Toyota Camry 2.4L engine. Using
a 19mm socket I wanted to turn the engine
clockwise to rotate the bolts into place to be
removed but the engine won't turn. I put it in
neutral and let the parking brake down and still
nothing. What is it that's causing the engine not to
turn? I also tried going counterclockwise and no
rotation at all so what could it be?

If the engine starts up and runs....then we can assume the engine is not frozen.....stuck. so....either us a wrench that is longer...more leverage......or....remove all the spark plugs so you can relieve cylinder compression. Get back with results.
