2002 Camry will not start sometimes.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
A few days ago the Camry would not start when warm a few times. The engine
is not turning over and there is no solenoid click. All other electrical systems
work fine and the battery tests OK. Waited 10 minutes and then it started right
up. After two days of this, it has started to stall at idle. So far it has always
started right up with a rolling jump start.

Is the Check Engine Light ON when the Engine is running?
The check engine light has been off and on for the last 3 years. It comes on for a few months and then goes off for a few months. My mechanics say that if the car is running well, which it has been, to just ignore it. Currently, it is off and has been off since this problem started.
What Engine...what Transmission in this vehicle? Sounds like a Battery and/or Cranking System Issue. These Systems should be checked out with the appropriate equipment. A good VISUAL inspection of the above circuit is also included. WE look for signs of CORROSION....a white powdery substance around battery and starter motor connections. Having said all that....what you might consider doing is doing the Visual...then purchasing a cheap Digital Volt/Ohm meter from WalMart. Read the directions on it's usage...then we can guide you from there. Consider it another "adventure" and learning experience. What happens if you try to Jump Start the vehicle with another car or Jumper Box? Be Careful now. Do Not hook up the wires BACWARDS while Jump Starting..... Poof....Smoke....more trouble.
4 cyl engine and manual trans. I am thinking it may be 2 problems- starter and a bad sensor. The not cranking and then starting fine after a while seem like starter. The stalling at idle seems like a sensor. What do you think?
I'm inclined to agree...however...our suspicions would need to be verified with the above mentioned diagnostic procedures...and....a Scan of Computer inputs and outputs with the appropriate Scan Tool.
Yes. It needed a new starter and when reviewing the maintenance records discovered that the park plugs were way past overdue for replacement. Those two fixes solved the problems.
Ah Great...I love it when we ultimately find the fix for these problem vehicles. Good Job. Thanks for the update.
Brand new battery we tried to jump start car we not start ? Check engine been on.
