just had a serpentinie belt replaced. On way home the car overheated and gage went to HOT. Stop, drive slow, it goes down a little but eventually goes up again. No prob until belt replaced..

Just replaced the serpentine belt.  On way home car overheated, the gage just went up suddenly.  Stopped, started slowly and it gradually goes up again in less than a mile. What can cause this?  Car had never overheated in 12 years!

With the engine off check the serpentine belt to make sure it is not loose.
