What happens if you put hydraulic fluid in place of clutch fluid?

I think it will be fine. Your owners manual even says hydraulic fluid. Then it goes on to name a specific gm brand. Just my opinion.

Not much if anything. It is a hydraulic system. If you are concerned about compatibility with the rubber seals you could drain out the fluid and replace it with the correct stuff.

Thank you so, so much!! I had a mechanic trying to tell me it damaged the entire clutch/brake system and I was going to have to replace everything from the master cylinder to all of the seals and valves!! And he even charged me $50 to tell me that big load of BS!!
