Car wont start

Asked by Shanice Feb 15, 2018 at 06:44 PM about the 2005 Toyota Camry LE FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Car won't start or turn over at all. When I turn the
key to try to start it makes no sound but a
humming coming from the mid section under the
car. Not sure what it could be. My battery is good
and I just replaced the starter in December2017.
Any advice on what it could be would be
appreciated.

Check the under hood Fuse and Relay Box. Is there a St Relay indicated on the box cover?

Last_chance_garage. It does have a relay with ST. tried to remove it but it would budge.

What engine and transmission? Do you have access to a automotive 12 volt test light...and or....a volt meter?

Here is another diagnostic tool. A long thin screwdriver...or....a long thin piece of wood which is the size of a broom handle.we use this tool like a Dr. Would use a stethoscope. Have someone in the vehicle .....have them attempt to start the engine.if you put one end of the piece of wood againt your ear...then touch the other end on various parts under the hood....including the Starter.....and those fuse boxes...you should be able to pinpoit the humming sound. Get back with results.

Last_chance_garage: so after check various things I finally found the problem. It was one of the connection on the starter somehow it fell out.

Uuuuuraaaa......another success story. Good job. Give that loose connection a little tug. If the connection comes off easily.....this problem may return. Good luck.
