2005 4 cyl Toyota Camry would not start after trip.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I have a 2005 4 cylinder Toyota Camry. It always start first time in the mornings. Then randomly it will not restart. Sometimes the engine is hot, sometimes cold. It cracks but would not start. Then randomly after 5 minutes or sometimes an hour it starts as if nothing is wrong. I had the crankshaft sensor & sparkplugs replaces. Seems to be no spark during the no start events. Any advise?

I think that's a typo, cranks not cracks. You are describing what will happen with loose or corroded battery cables. Sometimes they make a contact and sometimes not. If you see corrosion, which I kinda doubt because since you had the crankshaft sensor replaced the mechanic would have taken care of that and make sure terminals are tight and clean. If the battery is 5+ years old, have it load tested but at that age it's at it's expected life-span. Make sure the Neg-- battery has a good ground on other end from battery. Other than that, next might be camshaft sensor. Especially if your CEL (Check Engine Light) is lit

Thanks FordNut, indeed it should read cranks. The battery is about 2 years old. There is no problem with electric current supply to the starter motor, since it turns strongly. The CEL is not lit. The positive feedback is appreciated.
Sorry I was no help...At first I thought it might be the ECU Re-Call Toyota had for 2003-2006 4 cylinder cars, there were several. Rav4, Corolla, and more but I looked it up and Camry was not included, it's a different I4 than the Rav4 which is s Crossover Corolla

My 2005 Camry has same issue. Has happened at least four times. Struck me as some kind of vapor lock, or interruption in the fuel supply. Call me crazy but my “fix” hasn’t failed me yet! So don’t jinx me. Lol! Take the gas cap off, bounce the rear of the vehicle several times, replace gas cap, and be on your way. Hope it works for you, it has for me.
