Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Good morning folks !
I need some help with my 2005 Toyota Camry XLE V6 FWD.
The two break lights are not working, but the center one works. I replaced the
light bulbs and still does not work. No burned fuses as far as I can tell. Any
advice ?

Suggestion. Open the trunk and check the wiring harness on the left side....driver side. See if any section of the wiring harness is damaged or seperated Have someone step on the brake pedal while you are checking this harness. If the brake lights start to flicker.....you are at the site that needs repair. Get back with results.

The turn signal switch could also be the problem. The third brake light is not wired through the turn signal switch. But the other two brake lights are. Hope that helps! Jim

I second the motion on the wiring harness. The early Camrys have this known problem right at the drivers side trunk arm hinge. Since I said this. it will absolutely be your signal switch or some ground somewhere…. cause that’s my usual M.O. I hope once you figure it out, you remember to let us know so it can help others. People rarely write back with their solve here, so people keep posting the same issues with no posted fix.
