Exhaust

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I have a 2000 Toyota Solara SLE V6 3.0L. I was
concerned about its unusually loud acceleration. It
idles smooth and quiet but when I accelerate, it
sounds very loud as if it had an aftermarket exhaust
system in it. I have a feeling I may have an exhaust
leak of some sort. I'm sure it is not the catalytic
converter because if it was my acceleration would
be decreased. My car still picks up very fast but
between 1000 & 3500 rpm it is loud.

Of course there is an exhaust leak! you can't argue with physics or sound wave propagation, resonant frequencies at 1000-3500Rpm under load for sure.. Have the system Inspected from the Manifolds back, until the origin of the leak is located. Regards
16 year old car may have a rusted out muffler or other bad spot in the exhaust. Take it to a muffler shop and have it evaluated.
Thank you for your answers guys. I just wanted to know how big of an effect can that hav on my car? Does it need immediate attention?
Hey guys any thoughts?
