Need to know what the problem it has 240,000 miles

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Right now the battery is dead. But when it quit on
me , I was going down the road and just
happened to look at the dash and seen it just
stopped. I pulled to the side of the road, tried to
crank it and got a real screeching noise.

right, because the motor was still moving along with crank, most likely. First, find a way to recharge your battery while you are doing your research on getting a fuel relay ( black box in fuse panel) and crank sensor. Plenty of fuel relays in junk yards, there's really no reason why there wouldn't be a crank sensor in the junk yard either OR if you want to spend more money it's not a big deal buying a new one ( about 30 to 40 bucks)

Hi Larry, I just researched the parts page because I've never seen Chevy relays. My Ford relays look different BUT it's the same electrical schematic ( 30 amp with 85 trap door). Fuel relay will always have those numbers ( they have for me anyway). That relay you are looking for is a not a black square box like Ford, but a bit flatter black piece is what you look for in your fuse box. good luck
