An MR2 is a mid-engine rear wheel drive. '94 Celica is a front wheel drive, conventional front engine.
I get that but is it possible to drop the motor and trans into the Celica. The only difference between them that I know of is the placement of the motor. The drive wheel will be the same. I just need to know if the motor and tranny mounts will work and if I need to make any modifications to the car in order to make it work.
How can the drive wheels be the same? The Celica is Front wheel drive, the MR2 is rear wheel drive. It's not my intention to say it can't be done, but am actually curious about the drive wheels. But both cars had the 2.2L 5S FE engine. So I don't see a problem with the engine, still stuck on drive wheels
I've worked on the mr2 I wanted to get the motor out of. Both motors and trannys face the same direction. The tranny is on the left side of the car. And it sits just in front of the axle. That tells me the drive wheel is the same. I just need to know if I'm going to need to make modifications to the Celica as far as motor mounts.
I don't know if this is a old question but yes the 3sgte will drop right into the Celica GT you would need the s54 transmission from a Celica GT you would need a custom harness from wiregap add a custom clutch kit from South bend people would say you need a 255 fuel pump I am not running a 255 fuel pump on my GT 4th gen 3sgte swap air and fuel ratio check out pretty good so it's up to you you're going to need custom exhaust if you have any questions look me up on Instagram celica69.mb
