Should it cost $600 to replace the distributer?? Is it hard to get at/located in a weird place in this engine??

Hello, Replacing the distributor is not cheap. If you look at the part itself, it costs an average of $180 - and that's online (http://froogle.google.com/froogle?q=1995+celica+distributor&btnG=Search+Froogle). $600 may seem a little high, even taking that into account. You may want to ask your mechanic for details on the work he plans to do and at what rate per hour, and then take your business elsewhere if the situation merits it. the distributor is farely easy to remove on most of the 2.0 s a lot of time you have to take the valve cover off and you will see the camshafts look to the right and you will see that the distributor actually slides right in the side of the cover it's pretty self explanatory once you take off the cover
