car starts and dies in a few seconds

Hi,
      I have a 2002 toyota celica with about 150K miles. I took it to my friends house, spent about 5 hours at his place. Then i started the car and went about half a mile when it died on me.
1. When I crank it starts but dies within a few seconds
2. the gas pedal wont work

Is it
1. bad fuel pump
2. i noticed that it had low oil but not low enough to sieze it. oil level was showing low level in dipstick
3. my fuel door is broken, can it be someone put gargbage in the tank which could have messed up the fuel pump and/or filter?
