What is the third break light?

Asked by GoshRJarcia Dec 09, 2006 at 06:51 PM about the 1990 Toyota Corolla DX Wagon

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I'm having to register my corolla DX wagon, and they told me my third break light was out, I went to a Toyota service department and bought the third break light and put it in, but the light will still not work, I thought maybe it was the fuse but than figured that there would be other things connected with the fuse, but the only thing that isn't working is the light. So I was wondering what other possibilities there is for the break light not work other than the light bulb being out, cause I don't think that is it.

Hello, The fuse isn't necessarily connected to other things, but if you still have the the manual it may tell you what the fuses are connected to. A broken fuse is an easy diagnosis, so it might be worth pulling it out and taking a look. Another possibility is the wiring--did anyone check to make sure current was flowing through the wiring while you were at the dealer? Good luck!
