Corolla Cranks but won't start

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a corolla that will crank over but won't fire up ( start). I've replaced the spark plugs w/(ngk), wires (std), cap & rotor. I get fuel, spark, and sometimes it sound as if it wants to catch (briefly) and start but doesn't. I want to  suggest the crank positioning sensor, but am not sure if I would be getting spark if it was bad. Any suggestions would be appreciated sooner better cant miss too much work. Thanks In advance.

Had a crank but no start on my wifes 98 corolla, checked fuel, ignition power, and compression and was leaning towards a bad crank sensor, thats when I came across the Check Engine Light info. Turns out if the light never goes on when you turn the key its most likely a commuter problem, so I decided to look over the schematic and check the +B, turns out its feeds through a EFI HEATER relay. I located the relay and I pulled it I noticed one of the pins were rusted. Just the act of pulling the relay out and putting it back in cleaned the pin enough and the car started. I dabbed a little copper never seize on the pins and it worked fine, that was 5 years ago and my daughter is still driving it... I

i have a 93 Toyota corolla, i was driving down the road and it just shut off completely and wouldn't fire up. Before the car shut off on me on the highway. a couple days before it happened after work when i first started the car it would like loose power then it builds back up and take off. now it doesn't start at all. ive checked the spark plugs, rotor and new distributor cap. I was as thinking the alternator. But i was wonder if it may have jumped timing.

Engine control module or ECM. There is a recall of the part. It is free to get it replaced. Car will crank but not turn over. Often times it dies and will not start again. DO NOT LET A DEALER TELL YOU THAT IT BLEW YOUR THROTTLE BODY. The throttle body is separated from the ECM by a fuse that will blow and protect your throttle body unit. A dealer will need to replace this part as it has been recslled. Go to Toyota and look up your VIN to see if your car is invluded. Mine was replaced on my 2007 corolla 2 times before they got one that had good manufacturing soldered wires/diods, resistors and other electrical connections.
