the o/d light came on and it says o/d off what does that mean?

Agreed, t~shoes is right, I have done that in my Corolla, it's real easy to accidentally push the button, it's right where your thumb is when you grab shifter knob. Then O/D OFF will light and it's not a problem, just push button again. If it stays on after you push it, come back and we will figure it out. When you are going 70 what does the tachometer read? Should be about 2600 in O/D, if it's been kicked out of O/D or it's just not shifting in to, at 70 you will run at 3600 rpm. On long trips on open roads I set my cruise control at about 75 in a 70 limit road and purr along at about 2800 or so. Not long ago I was on a highway the speed limit was 80. Never saw that before, in Utah and Wyoming this was... interesting in Wyoming, the speed limit signs are electronic and variable, they change them up as high as 80 but lower them to suit conditions. Didn't go over..that's fast enough anyway and economy really begins to drop. A LOT
