1999 Toyota Corolla Cylinder 4 Misfire
This is not something that came on gradually. One day it was running fine, the next day I got in it, drove 1/10th of a mile from my house, noticed check engine light flashing; immediately pulled over and shut engine off, waited 10 minutes or so, started it, check engine light was on but not flashing; drove 1/10th of a mile back to my house and shut it off.
Tested for codes: P0304 - cylinder 4 misfire
Changed fuel injectors, changed plugs, changed wires, tested compression, tested MAF, tested PCM. Still have dead number 4 cylinder.
Pulled electrical plug from fuel injector or spark plug wire on cylinder 4 - nothing happens.
Pull electrical plug from fuel injector or spark plug wire on all other cylinders - kills engine immediately
Conclusion: Cylinder 4 is a dead cylinder
Tested compression on all 4 cylinders - 150 psi on all
Conclusion: good compression
MAF: Tested voltage, ohms, and cleaned it
Conclusion: working properly
Coolant:
Intermittent white smoke when first started but doesn't get hot, doesn't use coolant, not leaking coolant
Conclusion: smoke is from condensation
Oil: is due for oil change, going to change the oil.
Intermittent black smoke when engine is revved but is not low on oil, it is not leaking oil, some soot on spark plugs.
The question now is: Why do I have a dead cylinder?
