Thetmastat

Asked by Julie Apr 17, 2019 at 02:02 PM about the 1999 Toyota Corolla VE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 1999 Toyota corolla ve.  It needs a
thermastat. I saw a video that shows it on the right
side of the engine. My son is insisting its on the
left and needs to take off the alternator and
surpintine belt. The video I saw they just had to
take off the air filter to get to it. Can you tell me
where my thermastat is located. Do I follow the top
radiator hose to get to it or the bottom hose?

Note the picture, looking under the hood, the thermostat is on the left side of engine. It appears your son is correct. My removal procedure says to remove generator. You drain coolant down to an acceptable level. Take loose cts wiring connector loose. I just looked up your info in my database, this database isn't always correct, but, it's all I have for ref info and wiring diagrams.
