process to buy car

If I buy car from Individual and not from dealer, what should I check his paper or
any other thing.

Also after buying car from him what should I do.

Make sure they have a clear title and that the registration is current. Once you buy it you go to your local DMV office to pay the sales tax and register it in your name.
