Tape player won't work in 2004 Toyota Corolla
Hope someone can help me out here, as I have not been able to match any
problems with tape similar to my own. I mostly see people discussing tape
adapters, though that is the root to my problem. While I had the adapter in the
tape deck, connected to my iphone, my hand accudentally got caught on the
chord while I was reaching for something, and then I noticed the player was
making this kinda grinding/cueing type sound while music was playing. Then
one day I put a tape in and the player started making that same noise, and
these arrows on the screen would point in different directions as the sound
continued. It is not a continuous sound. It goes in like 1-2 second intervals
and then after about 10 seconds, the tape is spit out. This goes for all tapes,
including the adapter. I am not sure if the player is having trouble reading the
tape and it keeps flipping sides, or if it is just having trouble being read in
general. It is really strange and seems like an easy fix, and nothing seems
broken from the naked eye. I didnt tug on the chord hard. I thought something
maybe got out of place. It just sounds like its fast forwarding ever few
seconds, stops, does it again, then the tape is eventually spit out.
Sorry this is so long! Wanted to give as much details as possible. I was
looking into just replacing the whole stereo, bying one cheap for $30, but I
wanted to see if there was a way I could fix this myself.
Thanks,
Chris
