Vibration while idling in a 2004 Carolla

Asked by iliad May 12, 2016 at 11:46 AM about the 2004 Toyota Corolla S

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

We took our 2004  Carolla S in for a vibration problem while idling, we
where told it needed new motor mounts. After the mounts where installed
the vibration got worse. We took it back to the mechanic and he said drive
it for awhile so the mounts could settle in, we drove it for two weeks and the
problem did not go away.
Is there .anyway you can help.We really love the car.

I can rem ember Ford having this problem in the early 90's with some of
there smaller cars. It turned out to be a problem with the installation
process and the torque sequence in the installation.
Could this be the problem?
Thank You

Hi iliad, I don't know if you will like this answer, but here goes. For one thing you failed to tell how many miles you have. I own a 2003 corolla S with over 240,000 miles. Mine too has a little vibration during idle. I have bought but not installed new injectors just as a precaution (these are wear parts after all). Our cars are old by any standard, they have a timing chain that will also wear out over time. What I am trying to say is this may be something you might have to live with short of getting your engine overhauled, or a replacement vehicle. Have you tried having your throttle body cleaned? have you tried a better grade of fuel? So if you have done all that can be mechanically done easily, you may have to resort to more drastic measures (there is only so much a computer can do). I myself plan to live with the little shimmy (if replacing the injectors does not work). The car is reliable, and I like it. The choice is yours to make. Good luck friend!

Low idle speed < 600 rpm will cause vibration at warm temp and in neutral position or at parking[ auto]. Have the MAF and the Throttle body up , replace air filter if clogged and use NGK BKR6EGP [ GAP 1.1 mm ] .It should be restored. Wait for the learning period of ECU plz.
