Do I need the plastic covering on the inside of my door panel?

Asked by jrl185 May 03, 2017 at 09:43 AM about the 2005 Toyota Corolla S

Question type: General

Alright so as we all know, there's a plastic coating on the inside of a vehicle's
door panels that protects the wiring, switches, etc. of the door. However I
haven't been able to listen to music in my car lately, because any level of bass
makes the plastic vibrate/rattle like crazy. I tried taking a lighter to it in an
attempt to shrink it, which worked, but the rattling/vibrating is still apparent.
Would I be better off taking it right out, and if so would I be taking any risks of
ruining the electrical running through my doors?

Thanks, -Jake
