Sorry, I no longer own the car so I can't post a video. The lock may be in valet mode which disables the interior trunk release lever next to the driver's seat. Insert your key in the trunk cylinder and turn the lock clockwise back to vertical to enable the trunk release lever. Turn the key past vertical to open the trunk. Mine is a little difficult to get out of valet mode with a copied key, no issues with the original. The fold-down rear seats, if equipped, also have a valet switch on the back of the seat that disables the interior pull knob.
Or also, sometimes you have to bend the latch a little bit to level it with the lock bar, sometimes bending it forward or backward depending which way you have to do it to level it with the bar, make sure the spring is stretched enough to move the moving pieces on the open-close work they have to do in order to lock the trunk.
I 'eed car lots I need find where their parked
bought used 2001 Toyota echo to revamp for daughter. the trunk lock is actually missing - hole into trunk. I was told to go through back seat. the prior owners kids broke locks that you pull up to lay down back seats. does not work at all. I got bench out but cannot lower seats and there is not room enough to try to see and run a clothes hanger to open lock. is there a manual way I can force back seats loose?
